App rescue and new website for a services marketplace
Rescue of the Flutter app of Kelimbo, a services marketplace that arrived broken from another provider, and a new Next.js website on the same Firebase data with every feature.
Context
Kelimbo is a marketplace where professionals and clients meet to hire services. It had a Flutter mobile app built by another provider that did not work, and no website. We rescued the app and built the complete website in Next.js with the same features, deployed on our infrastructure under its domain.
The challenge
Receive a Flutter app from a previous provider full of errors, without documentation and with a frustrated client, and get it working without rebuilding it from scratch. At the same time, launch a website with full parity, same Firebase database, same users, same business rules with profiles, offers, chat, favourites and a premium tier, indexable on Google, with automated deployment.
The work
- 01Review and repair of the existing Flutter app, fixing the faults that made it unusable and leaving it stable in production.
- 02Web application in Next.js 15 and TypeScript on Firebase (authentication, Firestore and transactional emails) sharing data with the app.
- 03Accessible components, installable PWA, an SEO blog and tests with Vitest and Playwright.
- 04Docker container deployed on our Kubernetes cluster.
Outcome
The app started working and the client regained confidence in their product. In five weeks Kelimbo went from a troubled app to having an app and a public, indexable website with every feature, on the same data and without interrupting users.
