Bluetooth control app for a smart walker
iOS app to control a smart walker for people with reduced mobility over Bluetooth, for the CARTIF Foundation, brought over from the existing Android version.

Context
The CARTIF Foundation is developing a smart walker for people with reduced mobility. We brought the app they already had on Android to iOS with some improvements.
The challenge
Talk to a physical device through a proprietary Bluetooth protocol, with real-time speed and assistance control, a joystick, emergency contacts, battery and sensor telemetry. It had to be stable, simple for the end user and available in Spanish, English and French.
The work
- 01Migration to iOS with Swift, SwiftUI and CoreBluetooth, reusing the same protocol layer.
- 02Improvements over the Android version, with automatic reconnection with the walker, a command queue with retries, battery alerts, real-time language switching, dark mode, accessibility and onboarding for new users.
Outcome
A working iOS application, with speed and assistance control, joystick, device settings, LIDAR distances and emergency contact management.
